“We had such a great time at our friends wedding with the camera - always such a happy time and great to be able to capture in such a creative way!”

Not instead of your photographer. The bit they can’t be at.

A wedding photographer is worth every penny for the vows, the speeches and the first dance. They are also one camera, one angle, and packed up by eleven. Nobody is standing at table nine at half eleven. Your guests are.

Already booked a videographer?

Good, keep them. The UK average is £1,514 and it buys a crafted, guaranteed film. We are the rest of the night, from the inside, for the price of one more guest at the reception.

Ten cameras on your tablesFlash on every one, room for about 5,000 photos, all of them back in one gallery £245

One more guest, or ten cameras on the tables all night. And nothing to do on the Monday: the kit goes back with the courier and the gallery arrives in your inbox. Five tables rather than ten? That’s five cameras, £170.

Wedding camera hire questions we get asked.

How much does wedding camera hire cost?

Every price includes delivery, our collection the day after, and every photo and clip sent to you after the day. Photo Only Pack, £170: five screen-free cameras with flash, one for each table. Video Only Pack, £175 in the autumn sale (booked by 30 November), £245 from 1 December: two VHS-style retro camcorders. Photo & Video Combo, £320: the two camcorders and the five cameras. Photo & Video Combo + Edited Highlights, £450: the Combo, and we cut your guests’ clips into highlights. Extra cameras are £15 each, so ten tables comes to £245.

How many cameras do we need for a wedding?

One camera per table. Five tables, five cameras, £170. Ten tables, ten cameras, £245. Build the exact number in the cart.

Do we still need a photographer?

Yes, if you want one. Keep them. They get the vows, the speeches and the first dance, properly framed. We get table nine at half eleven. The two don’t overlap, they add up.

Will the photos come out in a dark reception?

Every stills camera has a proper built-in flash that lights a whole table. That is why disposables come back black and these don’t. Be realistic though: it lights the people in front of you, not the far end of a marquee, and a fast dancefloor will show some blur. That is part of the look.

Who puts them out and packs them up?

Whoever you like, usually whoever’s setting the tables. A card on each one tells guests what it is. Everything goes back in the cases it came in, and we collect from any address you choose, the day after.

Can we book the venue as the delivery address?

Yes, and plenty of couples do. Give us a name at the venue who will sign for it, and we will send it there two days before. Collection is separate, so the kit can go back from your house instead if that suits you better.

Is it a digital alternative to disposable cameras?

That’s a fair way to put it, minus the parts that go wrong. If you were looking at disposable camera hire or rental for the tables, it’s the same idea: a camera on every table, and your guests shoot it themselves. These are reusable, they have a proper flash, and there are about 500 shots in each rather than 27. Nothing gets posted to a lab, nothing comes back blank, and you don’t find out weeks later that half of them didn’t take.

Is the footage real Super 8 or VHS?

No. The look is the old home movie, somewhere between Super 8 film and a 90s VHS camcorder, but the camcorders are digital: there’s no film or tape to buy, develop or run out of. The clips further up the page are how it comes out, as filmed.

When do we get the photos?

Your gallery goes live the day the kit lands back with us, usually two or three days after the wedding. Edited highlights, if you added them, follow about a week later.

What you hire

Hard cases. Everything in them, charged and checked.

Neither has a screen on the back, which is the whole point at a wedding: nobody stands there reviewing a shot in the middle of the speeches, they take it and pass it on.

Four of our screen-free cameras in their foam-lined hard case

The screen-free camera

Point, press, flash, pass it on. About 500 photos each on a charge, so five of them hold far more than an evening will produce.

Last thing

Your photographer leaves at eleven. Your guests don’t.

Five cameras on the tables costs the same as one more seat at the reception, and it is the only record anyone will have of the last two hours.
